...good deed lauded

The family of Michael Appleby faced another Christmas without their son, who died at age 16 in a car accident. Yet they unselfishly share their loss so that others may live. Their foundation, dedicated to new driver safety, MAKUS, Comcast and other area businesses sponsored signs featuring Michael in a celestial setting labeled “I didn’t. You can. Buckle up!” It must be painful for the family to see Michael’s face on billboards and sides of buses, yet they sacrificed their private grief to share a public message. I’ve heard girls in my carpool discussing the billboard’s message.

Thank you to the Appleby family.
